X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) Surveys with HAIL Environmental

XRF used to mark out arsenic-impacted soil from a former sheep dip

HAIL Environmental can now offer field testing of heavy metal contaminants in soil, using our latest acquisition - an Olympus Vanta VMW portable X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XRF). The VMW's 50 kV X-ray tube and G3 GeoChem calibration deliver exceptional performance, with limits of detection down to 1 mg/kg for arsenic, lead or mercury - more than adequate for comparison to national Soil Contaminant Standards.

Even difficult elements such as silver and cadmium can be accessible to the VMW. XRF is a game-changer for contaminated sites such as timber treatment sites, sheepdips, mines and apple orchards, where heavy metals are typically risk drivers; in these applications, XRF field testing can significantly reduce investigation and remediation costs.
